The verdict

One of the smoothest economic euros out there, with a live market that keeps everyone honest. If supply-and-demand math makes you happy, this earns its table time.

Best for: Euro fans who love trading, market timing, and indirect interaction over combat.

The full review

What it is

Here's the pitch. You're a 19th-century Scottish clan farming sheep, milking cows, distilling whisky, and shipping goods to a hungry market. You produce things, you sell things, you buy what you can't make yourself. The clever part is the market itself. Prices shift as players buy and sell, so the wool you're sitting on is only worth what everyone else lets it be worth. That live economy is the heart of the game, and it's what fans keep coming back for.

The catch

Now the honest bits. This is a meaty economic game, and your first setup is slow because every player board gets fully populated before you start. The text on those boards runs small, so reach for your reading glasses. There's plenty of indirect interaction through the market and map placement, but if you want direct conflict you won't find it here. And the export contracts carry real luck. Reviewers note a lucky contract can rocket a trailing player up the standings, which stings if you've played a tight game.

Who it's for

So who's this for? If you light up at supply, demand, and selling at the perfect second, you'll love it. The clans give you eight different engines to learn, the map changes each time, and the rulebook actually teaches you well, which is rarer than it should be. It's not a brawler and the theme stays light. But as a clean, interactive economic euro that plays in about two hours, this one absolutely earns its spot.
