What it is
Concordia is Mac Gerdts' Roman trade game where you don't roll anything or draw a random hand. Everyone starts with the same small deck of action cards, and you play them, buy more, and eventually scoop your discard pile back up to do it again. You spread colonists, build houses in cities, and collect god cards. The catch is that those god cards are also your scoring, so every purchase is a quiet bet on how the board ends.

The pull here is fairness. There's no dice, no luck of the draw, so a loss is on you, and players love that. End scoring is the heart of it: six gods, each tied to a card type, and every card you own pays out. It reads as a heavy game but teaches in ten minutes. The downside is honest. Venus is the base game plus an expansion, and it's the edition to buy if you want options. The new individual variant adds a Venus scoring track and plays great. The 2v2 team mode is the soft spot.
